the see and its first bibliographical sources

The historical and religious relief, as well as the artistic majestuosity of this monument, has made its bibliography quite ancient. We can remember the references at the Descripció de la grandesa i antiguitats de la ciutat de Manresa (1685) by Magí Canyelles (unpublished until the Leonci Soler i March edition in 1896), the Epítome histórico de la muy ilustre ciudad de Manresa (1692), by Gaspar Roig i Jalpí, the Ensayos históricos sobre Manresa (1836) by Josep M. Mas i Casas or the Memoria sobre Manresa y en especial sobre su Seo (1859) by Manuel Torres i Torrens.

And we could also add the notable references in descriptive travel books such as the Guía del viajero en Manresa y Cardona (1860) by Gaietà Cornet i Mas or the history books like the one by Joaquim Sarret i Arbós: Art i atistes manresans (1916), Manresa. Castell-ciutat (1916) and his Història de Manresa (Monumenta Historica Civitatis Minorisae) volumes I (1921) i IV (1924). The firt monographies start with the Resumen histórico de la Seo de Manresa (1888) by Antoni Montaner, followed by the Monografía de la Seo de Manresa (1884) by Eduardo Támaro, the Monografía de la iglesia de Ntra. Sra. de la Aurora –Seo de Manresa (1899) by Josep Torres i Argullol. Recently (1978) Josep M. Gasol has been the author of the most accurated monography written until this moment.
